1. Daily work of ISU secretariat
In this period, ISU secretariat handled a total of 99 emails, including 74 English and 25 Chinese, mainly to publish notices on the ISU upcoming events, exchange views with ISU members of Brazil, Italy, France and other countries on the international market survey project, communicate with ISU member units of Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan and related industry organizations, complete the procedure of new members accession, etc.
In the last three months, ISU official communication platform--- World Silk Website totally published 102 articles, including 89 Chinese and 13 English. The visits to the website are 3690, in which Chinese version attracts 2662 and English website 1028. We-chat public platform published 110 articles, including 7 original reports. The whole reading amount is 99802, the highest amount of single reading is 4939, subscribers increase 809 to total 4321.
On February 7, 2018, ISU secretariat held a working meeting to discuss and implement the ISU main work in 2018, including the preliminary scheme of 2018 ISU Chairman Enlarged Meeting and France Silk Festival Chinese Silk Enterprises Boutique Exhibition, visit plan of the domestic member units, assisting survey project of “Millennial perception of silk” and the construction of ISU committees, etc.
On March 28, 2018, ISU secretariat held Lunar New Year's first working meeting, reporting and exchanging the secretariat’s recent work, exploring the detail scheme of 2018 ISU Chairman Enlarged Meeting and France Silk Festival Chinese Silk Enterprises Boutique Exhibition, discussing the plan of participating in the “Belt and Road” Silk Expo with ISU member unit --- Meorient International Exhibition, etc.
On April 10, 2018, ISU secretariat office meeting further implemented the details and progress of 2018 ISU Chairman Enlarged Meeting and France Silk Festival Chinese Silk Enterprises Boutique Exhibition.
2. Visit of domestic ISU member units
To enhance the mutual understanding and communication with ISU member units, ISU secretariat timely choose to visit the domestic member units from this year.
On March 6-7, 2018, ISU secretariat started the first visit station in Tongxiang and Huzhou in Zhejiang, including the member units of Zhejiang Tianzhongshan Silk Co., Ltd., Tongxiang City Heshan Weiye Textile Co., Ltd., Silk Road Holding Group Co., Ltd., Huzhou Ling Silk Institute, and Zhejiang Zhongwei Silk Group Co., Ltd..

On April 25, 2018, ISU secretariat went on the second visit station to Suzhou Taifa Coloured Thread Weaving Co., Ltd..
ISU secretariat introduce the development of more than two years since ISU foundation, express the appreciate to the member units for their support and assistance to the union and introduce the 2018 work plan. Through the visit, the secretariat can learn about the whole condition of each member, seek their advice on the work of ISU secretariat, to strengthen the service awareness and provide better facilities and supports for member units.
3. Survey project of “Millennial Perception of Silk”
This project aims to interview 2500 millennial middle class women from China, France, German, Italy and USA, to measure their commitment with responsible consumption, level of information about sustainable aspects of silk production and level of association between silk and sustainable fashion. It is launched by ISU Brazil member --- Bisa Overseas, the president, Mr. Joao Berdu developed the survey questionnaire, ISU secretariat solicited opinions of members from China, France, German, Italy, then the questionnaire was sent out by the professional survey company in USA.
On March 13, 2018, ISU chairman, Mr. Li Jilin had a meeting with Mr. Joao Berdu. During the communication, Mr. Joao Berdu appreciated ISU for the great support to the project. He promises to make every effort to complete the project research and publish a detailed investigation report at ISU Chairman Enlarged Meeting.
By the end of April 2018, the questionnaire survey data of five countries had been completely received. The project starts the data analysis.
4. Work progress of ISU committees
In February, 2018, through the contact and coordination of the ISU secretariat and Mr. Zhao Feng, director of ISU History Culture Professional Committee and curator of China National Silk Museum, Prof. Dagmar Schäfer of Max Planck Institute for the History of Science and also the member of ISU History Culture Professional Committee visited the ISU member unit---Artisan Angkor Co., Ltd. in Cambodia, having an in-depth study on the design and development of traditional Khmer silk.
In April, 2018, invited by Prof. Zheng Jinhuan, the member of ISU Education Research Committee and president of “Journal of Silk”, Mr.V. Shyam Kumar, professor of Karnatak University, and Mr. Xungai Wang, professor of Deakin University, joined the ISU Education Research Professional Committee. Up to now, there are 15 experts and scholars from China, Brazil, Poland, Thailand, Australia in ISU Education Research Committee, becoming the valuable resource of ISU.
On April 11, 2018, ISU chairman, Mr. Li Jilin had a meeting with Mr. Chen Wenxing, ISU vice-chairman, director of Educational Research Professional Committee, president of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, to exchange the development of the committee. President Chen plans to hold the first meeting of the Educational Research Professional Committee in October 2018, to further promote relevant work of the committee.
