Import and Export of Australian Silk Products in J

1. Trade situation of silk products in Apr.

According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, trade amount of silk was $33.0948M, decreased 11.94% compared with previous month and increased 2.22% compared with previous year. Among them, the import amount was $30.7715M, decreased 9.88% compared with previous month and increased 3.71% compared with previous year. The export amount was $2.3234M, decreased 32.37% and 14.12% compared with previous month and year respectively. Specific products composition is as follows:

Import: Amount of silk yarn was $1.2K, a marked decrease of 89.33% and 89.72% compared with previous month and year respectively. The volume of silk yarn was 0.01 tons, a significant decrease of 99.4% and 96.4% compared with previous month and year respectively. Amount of silk fabrics was $1.6892M, increased 13.51% and 22.83% compared with previous month and year respectively. Amount of silk manufactured products was $29.0811M, decreased 10.92% compared with previous month and increased 2.81% compared with previous year respectively.

Export: There were no export changes about silk yarn. Amount of silk fabrics was $143.4K, fell 29.9% and 60.9% compared with previous month and year. Amount of silk manufactured products was $2.18M, declined 32.2% and 6.78% compared with previous month and year respectively.

2. Trade situation of silk products in Jan.-Apr.

From Jan. to Apr. the trade amount of Australian silk products was $166M, a slight increase of 5.48% compared with previous year. Among them, the import amount was $156M, increased 6.79% compared with previous year. Export amount was $10.0086M, decreased 11.5% compared with previous year. Details are as follows:

Among the import silk products, import amount of silk yarn was $20.4K, decreased 29.58% compared with previous year, import volume of silk yarn was 0.93 tons, increased 14.39% compared with previous year. Import amount of silk fabrics was $6.8287M, dropped 3.91% compared with previous year. Import amount of silk manufactured products was $150M, increased 7.34% compared with previous year.

The major import sources were China ($106M, up 13.4% year-on-year, accounting for 67.8%), India ($8.84M, down 14.02% year-on-year, accounting for 5.65%), Italy ($7.0382M, up 9.15% year-on-year, accounting for 4.5%), Vietnam ($3.8204M, up 29.1% year-on-year, accounting for 2.44%), Bangladesh ($3.7176M, down 31.83% year-on-year, accounting for 2.38%). All these five import sources total account for 82.77%.

Among the export silk products, the export amount of silk yarn was $15.5K, a marked increase of 602.17% compared with previous year, the export volume of silk yarn was 50 tons, suddenly increased 217291.3% compared with previous year. The export amount of silk fabrics was $484.5K, declined 50.4% compared with previous year. The export amount of silk manufactured products was $9.5086M, declined 7.95% compared with previous year.

The major export silk markets were New Zealand ($2.9137M, down 12.23% year-on-year, accounting for 29.11%), the United States ($1.9477M, down 25.42% year-on-year, accounting for 19.46%), the United Kingdom ($1.038M, down 11.96% year-on-year, accounting for 10.37%), Hong Kong ($588.8K, down 16.66% year-on-year, accounting for 5.88%), and Italy ($444.8K, rose 537.48% year-on-year, accounting for 4.44%). All these 5 export markets total account for 69.26%.
