Asian Silk Enterprises Gathering in Khon Kaen Thai

The 3rd Asian Silk Forum was held in Pullman Hotel, in Khon Kaen Thailand, on September 9, 2015. Theme of the 1st forum is “Silk Road”, the 2nd is “Industry Development”, and the 3rd is “Corporate Social Responsibility and the Establishment of the Asian Silk Alliance”. The forum was jointly organized by Khon Kaen Government and Mekong Institute. Silk enterprises from Thailand, China, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Japan and India participated in the forum. Dr. Watcharas Leelawath, dean of Mekong Institute, made the opening speech for the forum and presented an overview of the Mekong Institute through the video. Students from Art Department of Khon Kaen University performed traditional Thai dances. Mr. Madhurjya  K Dutta, minister of Investment and Management Department in Mekong Institute, introduced the specific contents, modules and goals of the forum.

 

The first topic is "Technological Innovation of Silk Enterprises ".Dr. Sarun Sumriddetchkajorn, from Thailand's National Electronics and Computer Technology Center, introduced how to promote silk technological progress and sustainable development through electronic technology.  Akira Nonaka, president of Japan Purple Hiro Corporation, analyzed that the silk consumption in the global showed downward trend, he focused on using high technology to promote silk industry development, for example, antioxidant, location tracking and new management methods et al. Dr. Siridiporn Chuprayoon, director of Silk Division in Thailand Ministry of Agriculture, shared in the global cocoon acreage, growth and decline of silk production, silk products’ price comparison and impact on development, proposed the goal to created high-quality silk products. Bian Xinger, deputy director of Technology Center and Minister of Enterprise Management Division of Zhejiang Cathaya International Co., Ltd., described the efforts and contributions of Cathaya Group on silk cultural heritage and silk products design innovation. Exploring design innovation inspiration in silk relics is an important experience for Cathaya Group. Suttirat Kaewaporn, Thailand Jo'Bag founder, also the president, introduced practice on waterproof silk fabrics and silk fashion bag. Mr. Dilip Barooah, president of Indian Fabric Plus Company, emphasized the relationship between the environments, social responsibility and economic. Enterprises should pay attention to environmental protection, produce green organic silk products. This is social responsibility of a silk corporate. Enterprises must consider what is socially useful, how to be sustainable development.

 

Kamthorn, deputy prefect of Khon Kaen Government, congratulated the meeting and posed for pictures with guests.

 

Half-day conference was warmly and compact, delegates participated actively and gained a lot of knowledge and inspiration.
