1 Meeting between Cambodia Silk Sector Promotion and Development (SDC) And International Silk Union (ISU)

  On the morning of May 2nd, the conference between Cambodia Silk Sector Promotion and Development (SDC) and International Silk Union (ISU) was held in Angkor Wat Conference room in Ministry of Commerce(MOC). The conference included ISU delegation, all the members of SDC, representatives of Ministry of Agriculture and some silk business representatives.

  At first, H.E Mao Thora, Secretary of State, SDC Chairman, Ministry of Commerce delivered a speech and extended a warm welcome to ISU delegation. He expressed his wishes that China silk enterprises could understand Cambodia silk industry in depth, then further promote development and cooperation in silk industry between China and Cambodia.

  Next, Mr. Fei Jianming, Secretary-General of ISU addressed. He firstly conveyed the greetings of Li Jilin, the president of ISU, to the leaders of Moc and the silk colleagues, and introduced the ISU profiles, trend of China silk industry, delegation members and their expectations.

  Mr. Oung Sokhon, Director of Silk Development Bureau detailed the SDC profiles, duties and responsibilities of the Secretariat, as well as development vision of the silk industry in Cambodia. The sector is established in 2015, under the jurisdiction of Moc, consists of Cambodia silk enterprises, associations, institutions, etc., and purpose at promoting the development of the silk industry in Cambodia.

  Then, Mr. Penn Sovicheat, Director of Department of Commerce in the country introduced the situation of the economic and trade cooperation between China and Cambodia, and expressed that they desire to get help through ISU in the many aspects like technology of mulberry and sericulture, design, brand promotion, international operation, etc.

  Ms. Seng Takakneary, Director of Sentosa Silk introduced the overall situation of the enterprise in detail.

  Prince Pheanuroth Sisowath, Board member of SDC and Khmer Silk Village presented the 2016-2020 National strategy of silk development.
  
  Mr. Yin Chansothy, representatives of Ministry of Agriculture expressed that Ministry of Agriculture support and and attache great importance to sericulture process and silk production.

  Mr. Yang Guoliang, President of Shandong Hairun Investment Group Co., Ltd—ISU Executive Director unit, delivered main points of the development and promotion of Cambodian silk industry.

  After the meeting, Mr. Fei Jianming, Secretary-General of ISU gave gifts to leaders of Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Agriculture. 


2 Courtesy meeting

   At 2:00 p.m, in the Bayon meeting room Ministry of Commerce, H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Ministry of Commerce met with ISU delegation, the other Cambodian representatives including Vice Ministers of MoC, Vice Minister of Agriculture, heads of various departments of MoC, representatives of silk enterprises, etc.

  H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Ministry of Commerce addressed and expressed sincere thanks and warm welcome to ISU delegation. Then he introduced the development trend and strategy of Cambodian silk industry. He emphasizes that the MoC attache great importance to the development of the silk industry, and to increase women and farmers employment opportunities, also hope that through the platform of ISU to promote cooperation of silk industry between the two countries, especially hope that China will provide strong help to the development of Cambodia silk industry.

  Mr. Well Lam, Executive Director of High Fashion International Group—Vice-chairman Unit, on behalf of ISU delegation, expressed gratitude for the high standard of reception. ISU aims to promote exchanges and cooperation among countries of the silk industry. As a member unit of ISU, High Fashion International Group has a deep relationship with Cambodia, in the economic background of “Belt and Road Initiative ", economic and trade cooperation is deepening between China and Cambodia. Thus he hopes that this investigation of Cambodia silk industry will achieve fruitful results.
  Ms. Seng Takakneary, Sentosa Silk Director, on behalf of Cambodia silk enterprise made a speech. Finally, Prince Pheanuroth Sisowath, Board member of SDC and Khmer Silk Village made a Closing remarks.

  After the meeting, H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of MoC exchanged gifts with Mr. Fei Jianming, Secretary-General of ISU, and sent gifts to all the ISU delegation members.

3 Business Matching Between Cambodia Silk Sector and International Silk Union 

  At 3:00 pm, in the Angkor Wat Conference room of MoC, Business Matching Between Cambodia Silk Sector and International Silk Union began.

  H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of MoC and Mr. Well Lam, Vice-chairman of ISU addressed respectively on behalf of both sides.

  Prince Pheanuroth Sisowath, Board member of SDC delivered a speech and expressed the hope that could make substantive achievements through this Business Matching.

  Ms. Seng Takakneary, Sentosa Silk Director, on behalf of Cambodia silk enterprise made a speech.

  Mr. Pav Eang Khoing,Product director of Artisans Angkor—ISU member unit, as another representative of Cambodia silk enterprise made a speech and introduced the general situation of Artisans Angkor. He said it is a great honor to be a member of ISU, and sincerely invited ISU members to visit their company.

  After that, Mr. Fei Jianming, Secretary-General of ISU delivered a speech about present situation and development strategy of Cambodia silk industry, and answered the questions about the support and help could be get from China, including cultural exchanges, sericulture technology, personnel training, the establishment of design schools, silk exhibitions, investment and cooperation, etc. 

  Finally, H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of MoC announced the business meeting started formally.

Cambodia state television interviewed ISU Secretary-General

  Cambodia MoC have arranged such a high standard reception for ISU delegation, which shows that Cambodia attach great importance to the development of silk industry. China has largest producer of silk in the world, thus they strongly hope to learn experiences of the silk industry chain in all aspects from China. Sincerely wish this investigation will contribute to the further cooperation between China and Cambodia silk industry, and promote the development of Cambodia Silk industry.
