【Cambodia Trip Day4】Khmer Golden Silk Village, Mag

  On May 4, it was still a beautiful day. After a one-hour trip, ISU delegation arrived Banteay Manchey Province. Accompanied by H.E Mao Thora, Secretary of State, Cambodia Silk Sector Promotion and Development (SDC) Chairman, Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Kong Chan,Vice Minister of Agriculture and Prince Pheanuroth Sisowath, Board member of SDC, ISU delegation visited Khmer Golden Silk, Phnom Srok Village farmers and weavers.

  The Khmer Golden Silk, Phnom Srok village covering aspects from mulberry growing and silkworm raising, reeling, weaving, etc. It is also in the mode of household workshop, and mostly, there are mulberry fields in the back of workshops.

  The weavers are mainly women and people with disabilities, while young workers are prefer to move to cities, or to Thailand, Vietnam and other neighboring countries.

  The manager of the workshop introduced the general situation about the Khmer Golden Silk, Phnom Srok village. She expressed her hope that China silk enterprises could pass on the advanced experiences and technologies of mulberry growing and silkworm raising. And they hope that they can get investment from China silk enterprises and cooperation with them, then further promoting the development of silk industry.

  After lunch, ISU delegation came back to Siem Reap and visited the Angkor Wat, one of the Seven Wonders of the world. Angkor Wat is a temple complex in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world.

  The initial design and construction of the temple took place in the first half of the 12th century, during the reign of Suryavarman II (ruled 1113 – c.1150). Dedicated to Vishnu, it was built as the king's state temple and capital city.

  As the sun went down, the breeze was cool and refreshing, Angkor Wat seemed more brilliant under the golden light. It was the end of the forth day of this Cambodia trip.
