Import and Export of Australian Silk Products in J

1. Trade situation of silk products in May.

According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, trade amount of silk was $36.7607M, increased 11.08% and 5.14% compared with previous month and year. Among them, the import amount was $33.4344M, increased 8.63% and 1.88% compared with previous month and year. The export amount was $3.3262M, increased 43.67% and 55.04% compared with previous month and year respectively. Specific products composition is as follows:

Import: Amount of silk yarn was $4.9K, a marked increase of 308.25% compared with previous month and a decrease of 59.37% compared with previous year. The volume of silk yarn was 0.08 tons, a marked increase of 1420% compared with previous month and a decrease of 40.16% compared with previous year.  Amount of silk fabrics was $2.0727M, increased 22.7% and 4.13% compared with previous month and year respectively. Amount of silk manufactured products was $31.3569M, increased 7.8% and 1.75% compared with previous month and year respectively.

Export: There were no export changes about silk yarn. Amount of silk fabrics was $229.3K, increased 62.16% and 191.51% compared with previous month and year respectively. Amount of silk manufactured products was $3.097M, increased 42.47% and 49.84% compared with previous month and year respectively.

2. Trade situation of silk products in Jan.-May.

From Jan. to May. the trade amount of Australian silk products was $203M, a slight increase of 5.37% compared with previous year. Among them, the import amount was $190M, increased 5.84% compared with previous year. Export amount was $13.3268M, decreased 0.95% compared with previous year. Details are as follows:

Among the import silk products, import amount of silk yarn was $25.2K, decreased 38.29% compared with previous year, import volume of silk yarn was 1.01 tons, increased 7.02% compared with previous year. Import amount of silk fabrics was $8.8336M, dropped 2.9% compared with previous year. Import amount of silk manufactured products was $181M, increased 6.32% compared with previous year.

The major import sources were China ($128M, up 13.41% year-on-year, accounting for 67.68%), India ($10.5529M, down 16.27% year-on-year, accounting for 5.56%), Italy ($8.6873M, up 3.31% year-on-year, accounting for 4.58%), Vietnam ($4.6729M, up 18.63% year-on-year, accounting for 2.46%), Bangladesh ($4.3429M, down 35.07% year-on-year, accounting for 2.29%). All these five import sources total account for 82.57%.

Among the export silk products, the export amount of silk yarn was $15.5K, a marked increase of 602.17% compared with previous year, the export volume of silk yarn was 50 tons, suddenly increased 217291.3% compared with previous year. The export amount of silk fabrics was $711.8K, declined 32.56% compared with previous year. The export amount of silk manufactured products was $12.5994M, increased 1.64% compared with previous year.

The major export silk markets were New Zealand ($3.6138M, down 6.9% year-on-year, accounting for 27.12%), the United States ($2.4714M, down 22.7% year-on-year, accounting for 18.54%), the United Kingdom ($1.3336M, down 9.78% year-on-year, accounting for 10.01%), United Arab Emirates ($1.1856M, up 306.62% year-on-year, accounting for 8.9%), and Hong Kong ($728.7K, down 18.13% year-on-year, accounting for 5.47%).
