Seminar on New Development Trends of World Silk In

In order to strengthen the international exchanges between the silk enterprises, accurately grasp the new trend of the international silk market, and promote the stable development of silk industry, Italian time Nov. 13, 2018, during the 2018 ISU Chairman Enlarged Meeting, Seminar on New Development Trends of World Silk Industry was Held in Como, Italy. Nearly 90 silk industry experts and representatives from China, Italy, France, Switzerland, Brazil, Japan, Cambodia, Vietnam and other countries attended the meeting. Mr. Fei Jianming, secretary-general of ISU, presided over the meeting.

 

 

On the seminar, Mr, Wu Jingen, vice president of Chinese Silk Association and CEO of Zhejiang Cathaya International Co., Ltd., pointed out that the raw material basis of silk in the future is still in China, especially in Guangxi, Sichuan and Yungui Plateau. The future progress of silk technology was to combine with science and technology. He added, the future consumer market of silk was to adhere to the combination of high-end and fast fashion, and combine the stabilizing traditional market with the exploring emerging market, etc.

Mr. Paolo De Ponti, general manager of Raw Silk and Yarns, Trudel Limited, analyzed price turbulence reduces consumption from the virtual and true market, high-income and strong economic growth countries, high-end and medium-low brand, etc.

Mr. Kosho Matsunaga, managing director of Matsumura Co., Ltd., introduced the current situation and days ahead of world silk industry, he also suggested to organize OSEC (Organization of Silk Exporting Countries) as an international organization to stabilize raw silk price.

Mr. Din Yu Well Lam, vice chairman of ISU and executive director of High Fashion International Limited, expounded the challenges and opportunities of Chinese silk from the aspects of the impact of trade war on China, the need of new markets for silk and the sustainability of the silk industry.

Mr. João Berdu, president of Bisa Overseas, project manager of Vale da Seda, introduced the small but steady increase of local silk production, he especially highlighted that technological innovation achieves high productivity.

Ms. Seng Takakneary, managing director of SentoSaSilk, introduced the current situation and future of Cambodia silk, and the progress of SentoSaSilks sericulture. After then, she summarized the exchanges and cooperation between SentoSaSilk and ISU.

Ms. Tran Thi Chi Ma, co-founder of Hoi An Silk Village, introduced the current situation of Vietnamese silk, and she recommended the Silk Culture Festival in Hoi An.

Mr. Jacques POULENARD, president of Quality and Technical Commission of INTERSOIE France, introduced the draft of Handbook of the Good Practices on Silk Trading in scope, technical characteristics of raw silk, and environmental and social issues.

Mr. Liu Wenquan, secretary-general of Chinese Silk Association, on behalf of the Mr. Yang Yongyuan, honorary chairman of ISU, and Mr. Tang Lin, president of Chinese Silk Association, congratulated the convening of this meeting. He introduced the development situation from Jan to Sep of world silk industry using the data and example. He believed that the silk industry will be enter a high-cost era.

Ms. Emily who worked in Ratti called for improving the production stability of silkworm farmers, and expected that China and Europe will jointly train silk talents and carry out silk technology innovation.

Secretary-general Fei, introduced the current situation of world silk industry, responded to some questions and ideas raised by the speakers, put forward their own views and ideas on the urgent needs of countries for the price of stable silk.

Industry representatives from all over the world share their experiences, exchange and learn, and promote the continued prosperity of the silk industry.

ISU Chinese member unit--Sichuan Sachem Textile Co., Ltd. is willing to union with Hangzhou Shangfei Investment Management Co., Ltd. to help ISU Cambodian member unit--SentoSaSilk to gradually build the largest modern silk weaving company in Cambodia, the two parties sign the silk-weaving equipment assistance agreement and investment intention at the seminar.

 

 

 

 

Finally, Mr. Li Jilin, chairman of ISU, summed up the meeting and expressed his gratitude to the Italian Silk Office for their assistance. He hoped and called on the silk enterprises and silk research institutions of all countries to strengthen cooperation and jointly promote the development and progress of the world silk industry.
