The First Meeting of ISU Fashion Design Profession

French time, Nov. 15, 2018, the first meeting of ISU Fashion Design Professional Committee was held in Lyon, France. The members of professional committee and fashion design related representatives attended the meeting, Mr. Xavier LEPINGLE, vice chairman of ISU, director of ISU Fashion Design Professional Committee, president of INTERSOIE France, and general manager of Holding Textile Hermѐs, gave a welcome speech and presided over the meeting.

 

 

Mr. Li Jinlin, chairman of ISU, expressed warm congratulations on the convening of the meeting and thanked director LEPINGLE for his concern and support for the work of the Committee. Chairman Li said that French fashion design has long enjoyed a good reputation and is an important force leading the world's fashion design. The first meeting of the Fashion Design Professional Committee was held in Lyon, France, hoping to further strengthen the construction of the professional committee and gradually increase the number of new members of each country, actively carry out the textile industry technology innovation exchange activities to promote cooperation and win-win development and interactive development among the international silk industry.

 

 

In order to enhance understanding and strengthen communication, the participants introduced themselves. Up to now, the ISU Fashion Design Professional Committee members include 14 experts and scholars from France, China, Italy, India, Cambodia and Vietnam.

 

 

Under the globalization wave of consumption upgrading, how to maximize the release of fashion design potential and drive the development of silk fashion, the conference conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges around fashion design. Mr. João Berdu, president of Bisa Overseas, introduced the situation of Brazil and his view to the fashion; Ms. Tran Thi Chi Ma, co-founder of Hoi An Silk Village, introduced the current situation of Vietnamese silk, and she recommended the Silk Culture Festival in Hoi An; Ms. Wu Haiyan, dean of School of Design Arts, China Academy of Art, said that the future development of the silk exhibition should be thought-provoking. The global silk industry should be united to lead the development of the global silk industry through trends; Ms. Pascaline WILHELM, fashion director of Première Vision, emphasized the importance of “creativity + marketing” and believed that creativity is the characteristic of silk itself; Ms. Danièle CLUTIER-LEAUTE, director of Market Research & Consulting, Institut Français de la Mode, emphasized the importance of the “history + society + market” composite; Mr. Daniele Furlan, CEO of High Fashion Europa Srl, emphasized the importance of silk communication and how silk gives new life; Ms. Bian Xinger, vice secretary-general of ISU, said that the expression of fashion is different in different countries and she hoped to learn from each other. ISU will continue to do a good job in service and build a platform for exchanges among its members; Ms. Li Yuanwei, designer of Shanghai Silk Group Co., Ltd., interpreted the necessity of the market for silk promotion from the designer's point of view; Mr. Zou Fengyuan, dean of School of Fashion Design& Engineering, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, said that the silk fashion industry should attract younger generations; Ms. Zhang Yanzhe, executive vice general manager of brand operations center of Zhejiang Cathaya Group, said that design is a three-dimensional way of thinking and needs to convey brand values in multiple dimensions; Ms. Stéphanie KUNERT, director of Université de la Mode, said that design is constantly changing and needs to be combined with the times; Ms. Renata Amano, president of Brazilian Silk Association, said that silk is worthy of respect and that fashion design must be passionate; Mr. Fei Jianming, secretary-general of ISU, believed that fashion should have artistic beauty, conform to the trend of the times, and be liked by most people. He also said that the Fashion Design Professional Committee has brought together professors, designers and other elites in the fashion field, and should play its role in setting up the work objectives of the committee.

 

 

At the end of the meeting, director LEPINGLE had a concluding speech. He said that the understanding of fashion requires a long discussion. Through the exchange of this meeting, he hoped to have guiding significance for future work related to fashion design. It is also hoped that through the platform of communication and cooperation of the ISU, mutual understanding will be enhanced, and topics related to fashion design will be continuously exchanged, and relevant cooperation will be gradually promoted.
