Silk in Lyon

French time, Nov 16, 2018, it’s the second day of Silk in Lyon, the ticket is 5€,  but the citizens only increase and continue to flow. Some citizens come to visit every day, showing that the silk is rich in the city of Lyon.

Silk in Lyon started in 2005, at that time, there were only 6 companies exhibiting, year-by-year, there have been 140 exhibiting companies. This year, INTERSOIE France specially invited the Chinese silk city –Hangzhou to participate in.

Silk in Lyon exhibits various products, mainly to scarf, fabric and decoration. During the exhibition, there are some training courses about the silk process including sericulture, reeling, weaving, design, printing and finished, and 27 live shows to let the citizens feel the historical culture and technological innovation of silk.

Accepting the TLM interview

During the visiting of China Hangzhou booth, Mr. Li Jilin, chairman of ISU, and Mr. Wu Jingen, CEO of Zhejiang Cathaya International Co., Ltd, accepted the TLM interview. Chairman Li introduced the situation of ISU organized China silk companies to participate in Silk in Lyon, and made an analysis about the differences in silk production technology and design between China and France. He also introduced the Cathaya silk set - gift for first lady -exhibited in China International Import Expo (CIIE). 

Visiting Velours de Lyon

Velours de Lyon was established in the early 19th century, specializing in velvet weaving, it is one of the founding companies of the French silk exhibition. At the end of the 20th century, the whole industry chain began to be produced. At present, raw materials are mainly imported from China. The International Silk Union Secretariat organized more than 20 silk industry experts and representatives to visit Velours de Lyon.

The company representatives Mr. Jean-François RENAUD and Mr. Gilles RENAUD accompanied ISU delegation visit the entire process from warping, weaving, printing and dyeing to finishing. The company has strong management and high product fineness. The velvet mainly adopts a set of warp yarns, two sets of weft yarns, which are woven by a double-armed 16-piece brown multi-arm machine, and directly cut, the output is small, but the fineness is high. The fabric ex-factory price is about 100€/m, and the distribution price is about 400€/m. In recent years, Velours de Lyon has been engaged in the research and development of jacquard velvet high-density fabrics, and has cooperated with international brands such as Dior, Gucci and Valentino. 

This series of French silk festivals has more diverse content and more diversified forms. Representatives from all over the world gathered in Lyon to visit the exhibition and local companies, hold seminars and exchanges, feeling the cultural heritage and fashion design of silk, they are full of confidence and expectation for the future development of silk. For the first time, the Silk in Lyon invited foreign silk companies to participate in the exhibition, which improved the overall quality and international influence of the exhibition, and further deepened the collision and blending of silk culture.
