Representatives of Silk Cities from all over the W

French time, Nov 16, 2018, invited by Lyon Metropole, the representatives of silk cities from China, France, Japan and Vietnam gathered in Lyon, France, to discuss the event of network of silk cities. Government and agency representatives from Lyon City Council, Yokohama City Council, Chinese Consulate in Lyon, International Silk Union, China Silk Association, INTERSOIE France, and Hoi An Silk Village attended the meeting.

 

 

Ms. Valerie De Rosa, project manager of Department of Attractiveness and International Relations, Lyon Metropole, firstly, expressed her warm welcome to all the representatives for attending the Silk in Lyon. She pointed out that silk represents the history and culture of many countries and regions such as Lyon, and calls on the government, enterprises and research institutions of the silk cities of the world to unite to build network of silk cities, creating and promoting the international influence of the silk producing areas.

 

 

Mr. Xavier LEPINGLE, vice chairman of ISU, president of INTERSOIE France, and general manager of Holding Textile Hermes, introduced the subject and significance of building the network of silk cities. He hoped to unite the power of the silk industry in the world to enrich the French silk industry and innovate the development model of the European silk industry.

Mr. Kobayashi, the deputy mayor of Yokohama, Japan, reviewed the silk history, and current situation of industrial development. He said, Lyon and Yokohama as a sister city, their first communication was connected by silk. Yokohama also hoped to participate in the establishment of network of silk cities to promote Japanese silk culture.

 

 

 

Mr. Li Jilin, chairman of ISU, introduced the purpose, structure and the related work of ISU. For the first time, ISU organizes four Chinese silk companies to participate in Silk in Lyon, which is of great significance for promoting the internationalization of the exhibition. Chairman Li added, silk brands such as Hermes are the highlands of the world's silk, but there are also shortcomings in the lack of raw materials and manufacturing capabilities. Silk cultures with distinctive characteristics need to be integrated and exchanged. The silk industry in the world needs an international industry exchange platform to strengthen cooperation and interaction. ISU is willing to contribute to the creation of the network of silk cities. He also invited the countries of the world to the 2019 China International Silk Expo. 

 

 

Mr. Fei Jianming, general secretary of ISU, introduced the development and operation of Worldsilk Website. He pointed out that the formation of the network of silk cities needs to interweave all existing lines. The Worldsilk website publishes more than 500 Chinese and English silk reports every year, and publishes relevant data on global silk import and export. It has formed a certain influence in the global silk industry and can cooperate with international silk websites such as Lyon silk website.

 

 

Mr. Le Thai Vu, chairman of Vietnam Hoi An Silk Village, introduced silk history and silk situation of Vietnam, he also recommended the Vietnamese silk culture festival, and hoped that representatives of the silk industry in various countries can participate in the festival will be held on August 19, 2019.

 

 

Finally, the industry manager of Lyon Metropole proposed to make full use of the existing international silk conferences and events in the world to carry out cultural exchanges and industrial cooperation in the global silk field. He hoped that government representatives, commercial organizations, industrial producers and research institutions of silk cities in various countries can work together to create a unique and inclusive international silk network, and plan to sign and publish the agreement or declaration of establishment of network of silk cities in November 2019.
