Vietnam-International Silk and Brocade Culture Festival 2019 was Held in Hoi An, Vietnam

On August 8, 2019, International Silk Union (ISU) was invited to organize more than 50 member units’ representative and expert from China, Japan, India, Thailand, Cambodia to participate in the Vietnam-International Silk and Brocade Culture Festival 2019, which was held in Hoi An, Vietnam.

As the annual event of ISU, the event was supported by Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, and organized by Hoi An City People’s Committee and ISU member unit Hoi An Silk Group, including many colourful and characteristic activities such as silk product & silk machinery fair, silk-related seminar, real performance show Hoi An Memories, industry investigation of “Silk River” tour.

At the opening ceremony, Le Thai Vu, the chairman of Hoi An Silk Group, extended a warm welcome to the guests attending the festival and highlighted the recent development history of Vietnam Hoi An Silk culture festival, and this year’s special activities.

Fei Jianming, the secretary-general of ISU, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, he introduced the Le Thai Vu’s true and unselfishness felling to silk through his article “The Person, Chairman of Hoi An Silk Village”, and wish the silk festival complete success.

Watanabe Takao, president of Chvvoh Kai Nisijn-Kyoto, delivered a speech for the festival and wish the event a success.

The leaders and guests of the ceremony cut the ribbon for the " Vietnam-International Silk and Brocade Culture Festival 2019" and watched the local wonderful silk-themed performances. The performers wore local costumes and used ribbons, shuttles and picking mulberry as dance elements, showing the sericulture life of local people.

During the festival, the local leaders of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee and Hoi An City People's Committee held a symposium with ISU members who came to participate in this cultural festival. Nearly 20 members from China, Japan, India, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam attend the symposium. The deputy governor of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee expressed his welcome and gratitude to the ISU members. Secretary-general Fei Jianming introduced the basic situation of the participating member units and the 2019 International Silk Union Members Assembly which will be held in Hangzhou, he cordially invited the leaders and representatives to attend. Representatives of all member units actively exchanged ideas and exchanged views on the development of enterprises and foreign investment plans.

ISU member units including Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Sichuan Sachem Textile Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Textile Machinery Co., Ltd., Shandong Hirun Investment Group Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Hualong Weaving Machine Co., Ltd., Huzhou Mu Chen Culture Development Co., Ltd., SentoSaSilk attend the Silk Products and Equipment Exhibition, some of the classic and innovative products were warmly received by the visitors.

During the exhibition, Vietnam Television (VTV) focused on interviews with Zhejiang Sci-Tech University booth. Professor Zhu Chengyan, secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Textile Science and Engineering College (International Silk Institute) of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, introduced the origin of Chinese silk culture and the traditional brocade skills of various ethnic groups.

Seminar on “Application of Science–Technology in Silk Production and Silk Culture in Modern Life” held as scheduled, James Chang, chairman of Suzhou Taifa Coloured Thread Weaving Co., Ltd., Dang Vinh Tho, chairman of Vietnam Silk Association, PAV Eang Khoing, silk production director of Artisans Angkor Co., Ltd., Preetanat Kewcharoenwong, general manager of Spun Silk World, and professor Zhu Chengyan, secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Textile Science and Engineering College (International Silk Institute) of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, made the special report, elaborating the development and application of silk production technology and silk culture in modern life from the perspectives of enterprises and colleges.

In the evening, accompanied by chairman Le Thai Vu, representatives of ISU members strolled in Hoi An Impression Theme Park to watch the largest live performance show in Vietnam - "Hoi An Memories", Let the audience feel the vitality and charm of this ancient city.
