Report of International Silk Union (Part 2 of 2019, April - June)
1.Daily work of ISU secretariat.
In this period, ISU secretariat handled a total of 84 emails, including 59 English and 25 Chinese, mainly to contact with Hoi An Silk Group for Vietnam-International Silk and Brocade Culture Festival 2019, contact with Brazilian Silk Association for visiting itinerary of Brazilian silk industry, communicate with ISU members for visiting the companies, complete the procedure of the ninth ISU members accession, etc.
Since ISU official platform---World Silk Website optimized and upgraded, the access effect and stability have been significantly improved, the number of visits is at the front level among similar professional silk websites. In April-June, 2019, world silk website totally published 171 articles, including 135 Chinese and 36 English. The visits to the website are 7768, in which Chinese version attracts 6031 and English website 1737. We-chat public platform published 125 articles, including 34 original reports. The whole reading amount is 87358, the highest amount of single reading is 3624, subscribers increase 452 to total 6669.
On April 15, 2019, ISU secretariat held a working meeting to review the work carried out in the first quarter of 2019, summarize world silk website optimization and upgrade, deploy the plan for visiting member units, discuss the schedule arrangement of Vietnam-International Silk and Brocade Culture Festival 2019, discuss the ninth ISU members accession, etc.
On May 17, 2019, ISU secretariat held a working meeting to summarize the recent visits to member units, discuss the initial meeting arrangement of 2019 ISU Members Assembly, implement participation schedule of Vietnam-International Silk and Brocade Culture Festival 2019, arrange daily work of ISU secretariat, etc.
2.Visit member units, improve service quality of ISU.
On April 8-10, 2019, Li Jilin, chairman of ISU, Fei Jianming, secretary-general of ISU, and other entourages went to Sichuan and Chongqing to visit Sichuan Academy of Silk Science, Sichuan Sachem Textile Co., Ltd., Sichuan Nanchong Liuhe Group Co., Ltd., and Chongqing Wintus New Star Enterprises Group, had a communication with leaders of Nanchong city government and representatives of Nanchong member units respectively, understanding the development situation of member units and discussing the international development of silk industry.
On April 25, 2019, chairman Li Jilin, with Bian Xinger, vice secretary general of ISU, Wu Jingen, CEO of ISU member unit---Zhejiang Cathaya International Co., Ltd., and other entourages went to visit member unit---Xinyuan Cocoon Silk Group Co., Ltd. Chu Chengping, president of Xinyuan, accompanied to visit Xinyuan industrial park, including silk culture exhibition hall, finished product exhibition hall, biotechnology exhibition hall and weaving factory. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on the development of Xinyuan entire industrial chain and comprehensive utilization of sericulture, and the work plan of ISU.
Through visits, ISU secretariat learned about the member units’ international information needs for the international silk market. Chairman Li Jilin expressed to the member units that the secretariat will further improves its services, make its own characteristics, give full play to the role of union platform, and strengthen international communication and cooperation among member units.
3.Support for the application of UNESCO Creative City of Como, Italy.
The city of Como, Italy, wants to apply for UNESCO Creative City with silk as an element. In April 2019, Italian Silk Office entrusted ISU secretariat with a letter of support, hoped that ISU give the fully affirm to the efforts and contributions of Italian Silk Office in the international silk exchange, to support the application of Como to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
4.Indonesian member unit visited ISU secretariat.
On April 29, 2019, Koentjahro Widjaja, director of PT. Sutra Alam Nusantara and his delegation went to Hangzhou, China to visit ISU secretariat, chairman Li Jilin met with the delegation. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the development of sericulture in Indonesia and the development trend of international silk industry.
5.Vice secretary-general of ISU visited Brazilian Silk Association.
In May 2019, vice secretary-general Bian Xinger went to Brazil to visit Brazilian silk industry, held a discussion with Renata Amano, president of Brazilian Silk Association, and related representatives. Vice secretary-general Bian Xinger introduced the development of ISU in the recent three years, president Amano introduced the series of activities carried out by Brazilian Silk Association in 2018 and the key work in 2019. After the meeting, president Amano forwarded the original silk design work from Portuguese designer to the chairman Li Jilin, and further expressed to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between two parties.
6.Chairman Li Jilin held talks with vice chairman Chen Wenxing.
On May 17, 2019, chairman Li Jilin and Chen Wenxing, vice chairman of ISU, president of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, held talks to discuss the current work arrangements of ISU and the preparatory plan for 2019 ISU Members Assembly.
7.Assist China Fashion Association to contact Italian Silk Office.
On June 12, 2019, commissioned by China Fashion Association(CFA), after ISU secretariat coordinated and contacted, Xia Lingmin, vice president of China National Textile and Apparel Council(CNTAC), Zhang Qinghui, chairman of CFA, and other entourages visited the Italian Silk Office and Antonio Ratti Foundation.
8.Complete the procedure of the ninth ISU members accession.
According to relevant provisions of International Silk Union constitution, after the union secretariat preliminary review on the application, discussion on the union office meeting, and approval of the union executive director units, agreed Hangzhou Aurora Industrial Co., Ltd., Guangxi Cocoon&Silk Exchange Co., Ltd., Shengzhou City Necktie Association, and Maidilang Group Co., Ltd. to become the ninth batch of ISU members.
Up to now, 115 companies and organizations from 17 countries and regions including China, the United States, Italy, France, Switzerland, Japan, Brazil have joined ISU.
