1. Trade situation of silk products in February.

According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, the trade amount of silk products in February was $ 45.7227 million, with a decrease of 8.85 percent compared to previous month and an increase of 25.92 percent compared to the previous year. Among them, the amount of import was $ 43.2991 million, down by 10.3 percent month-on-month and up by 29.06 percent year-on-year; the amount of export was $ 2.4236 million, up by 28.09 percent month-on-month and down by 12.17 percent year-on-year. The specific commodity composition is as follows:

Import: The amount of silk was $ 5.2 thousand, rose 78.46 percent compared to previous month, and rose 48.95 percent compared to previous year. Silk volume were 0.05 tons, up by 20.51 percent compared to previous year, and rose 161.11 percent compared to previous year. The amount of silk fabrics were $1.5948 million, down by 22.45 percent compared to previous month, and up by 4.11 percent compared to previous year. The amount of silk manufactured products were $ 41.6992 million, down by 9.77 percent compared to previous month, and increase of 30.25 percent compared to previous year.

Export: The amount of silk was zero. The amount of silk fabrics were $ 52.2 thousand, down 38.15 percent compared to previous month, and fell 79.01 percent compared with previous year. The amount of silk manufactured products were $ 2.3714 million, up by 31.19 percent compared to the previous month, and down by 5.55 percent compared to previous year.

2. Trade situation of silk products in Jan. to Feb.

From Jan. to Feb., the total amount in Australia was $ 95.8861 million, with an increase of 11.6 percent compared to previous year. Among them, the amount of import was $ 91.5705 million, up by 13.23 percent compared to previous year, the amount of export was $ 4.3156 million, down by 14.58 percent compared to previous year.

Among the import silk products, amount of silk was $ 8.1 thousand, rose 83.54 percent compared to previous year, the volume of silk were 0.09 tons, rose 352.63 percent compared to previous year. Amount of silk fabrics were $ 3.6513 million, down by 8.66 percent compared to previous year. Amount of silk manufactured products were $ 87.9111 million, up by 14.37 percent compared to previous year.

The major import sources were China (import amount was $ 65.4028 million, up 21.6% year-on-year, accounting for 71.42%), India (import amount was $ 4.6592 million, down 4.96% year-on-year, accounting for 5.09%), Italy (import amount was $ 3.3758 million, down 1.67% year-on-year, accounting for 3.69%), Bangladesh (import amount was $ 2.1803 million, down 8.92% year-on-year, accounting for 2.38%), and Vietnam (import amount was $ 1.9962 million, up 15.42% year-on-year, accounting for 2.18%). All these 5 sources totally account for 84.76 percent.

Among the export products, amount of silk was zero. Amount of silk fabrics were $ 136.6 thousand, down by 62.75 percent compared to previous year. Amount of silk manufactured products were $ 4.179 million, down by 10.81 percent compared to previous year.

The major export markets were New Zealand (export amount was $ 1.1993 million, down by 16.31% year-on-year, accounting for 27.79%), USA (export amount was $ 789.5 thousand, down by 18.61% year-on-year, accounting for 18.29%), UK (export amount was $ 446.5 thousand, down by 12.45% year-on-year, accounting for 10.35%), Hong Kong (export amount was $ 245.8 thousand, down by 11.71% year-on-year, accounting for 5.69%), and United Arab Emirates (export amount was $ 155.2 thousand, down by 22.96% year-on-year, accounting for 3.6%). All these 5 markets totally account for 65.72 percent.
