1. Import and Export of Silk Commodity in November, 2017.

 

According to Chinese customs statistics, the import and export amount of silk commodity in November was 235 million dollars, up 29.35% month-on-month and down 31.01% year-on-year. Among them, the export amount was 215 million dollars, up 27.87% month-on-month and down 33.36% year-on-year. The import amount was 19.786 million dollars, up 47.83% month-on-month and up 11.46% year-on-year. Specific product composition as follows:

 

Exports: Silk amount was 51.359 million dollars, up 33.85% month-on-month and down 1% year-on-year, with a number of 962.05 tons, up 22.05% month-on-month and down 19.98% year-on-year. Silks and satins amount was 66.779 million dollars, up 56.13% month-on-month and down 4.28% year-on-year. The amount of manufactured goods was 96.599 million dollars, up 11.46% month-on-month and down 51.83% year-on-year.

 

Imports: Silk amount was 1.848 million dollars, up 13.88% month-on-month and up 25.66% year-on-year. with a number of 393.27 tons, down 14.7% month-on-month and down 7.24% year-on-year. Silks and satins amount was 3.719 million dollars, up 100.28% month-on-month and 3.45% year-on-year. The amount of manufactured goods was 14.309 million dollars, up 43.59% month-on-month and 12.08% year-on-year.

 

2. Import and Export of Silk Commodity Jan. to Nov. 2017.

 

Jan to Nov, 2017, the import and export amounts of silk commodity was 3.494 billion dollars, up 24.73% year-on-year, accounting for 1.31% of the total import and export amount of textile and apparel.

 

2.1 Export Situation

 

The export amount of real silk commodity was 3.323 billion dollars, up 26.76% month-on-month, accounting for 1.36% of the total exports of textiles and apparel. The same period, exports of textile and apparel increased by 0.64%.

 

2.1.1 Exported Goods Structure

 

Export growth of silk manufactured goods continued to decline but the trend slowed, silks and satins exports have no significant change. From January to November, the export of silk was 489 million dollars, down 0.79% year-on-year, accounting for 14.7%, the export volume was 10,591.18 tons, down 13.6% year-on-year, export unit price was 46.13 dollars per kilogram, up 14.82% year-on-year. Silks and satins exports 564 million dollars, down 5.59% year-on-year, accounting for 16.97%, export unit price was 5.55 dollars per meter, up 10.1% year-on-year. Silk manufactured goods export amount was 2.27 billion dollars, up 48.25% year-on-year, accounting for 68.32%, export unit price was 13.96 dollars each, up 35.93% year-on-year. 2.1.2 Major Export Markets

 

The decline in exports to the United States expanded and the increase in exports to emerging markets kept slowing. The top five markets were: EU ($705 million, up 4.6% year-on-year, accounting for 21.23%), the United States ($352 million, down 7.94% year-on-year, accounting for 10.59%), India ($287 million, up 4.45% year-on-year, accounting for 8.64%), Nigeria ($259 million, up 152.4% year-on-year, accounting for 7.79%) and Saudi Arabia ($251 million, up 235.41% year-on-year, accounting for 7.55%). (1) Silk Export Markets

 

Silk exports from drop to lift to India, continued to expand to Japan, declined significantly to EU. The top five were India ($176 million, up 1.48% year-on-year, accounting for 36.07%), EU ($119 million, down 11.32% year-on-year, accounting for 24.44%), Japan ($62.348 million, up 15.88% year-on-year, accounting for 12.76%), ASEAN ($61.68 million, up 3.5% year-on-year, accounting for 12.62%), and Korea ($18.846 million, down 2.12% year-on-year, accounting for 3.86%). (2) Satin Export Markets

 

The export of silks and satins continued to slump, main export markets decline mostly showed an expansion trend, narrowing the growth of exports to India. The top five countries and regions are: EU ($132 million, down 0.31% year-on-year, accounting for 23.38%), Pakistan ($121 million, down 17.18% year-on-year, accounting for 21.45%), India ($65.913 million, up 19.66% year-on-year, accounting for 11.69%), Hong Kong ($49.366 million, down 13.74% year-on-year, accounting for 8.75%), and South Korea ($31.984 million, down 10.95% year-on-year, accounting for 5.67%). (2) Silk Manufactured Goods Export Markets

 

The increase in the exports of silk manufactured goods to the EU, the drop in exports to the United States both expanded, and the increase in exports to emerging markets continued to narrow. The top five countries and regions are: EU ($454 million, up 11.45% year-on-year, accounting for 20%), the United States ($329 million, down 7.28% year-on-year, accounting for 14.5%), Nigeria ($249 million, up 143.75% year-on-year, accounting for 10.99%), Saudi Arabia ($248 million, up 234.47% year-on-year, accounting for 10.93%) and Ethiopia ($198 million, up 421.62% year-on-year, accounting for 8.73% ). 2.1.3 Provinces and Municipalities Export

 

The main export provinces and municipalities ranked stable, export growth of Guangdong continued to fall, other major provinces and municipalities maintained a downward trend. The rankings of major provinces and municipalities were as follows: Guangdong ($1.652 billion, up 112.21% year-on-year, accounting for 49.71%), Zhejiang ($732 million, down 9.63% year-on-year, accounting for 22.03%), Jiangsu ($296 million, down 3.2% year-on-year, accounting for 8.9%), Shanghai ($160 million, down 6.57% year-on-year, accounting for 4.83%), and Shandong ($123 million, down 7.07% year-on-year, accounting for 3.7%). 2.1.4 Enterprises Export Ranking

 

Zhejiang Jiaxin Silk Co., Ltd., Shandong Hirun Investment Group Co., Ltd., and Xinyuan cocoon silk Group Co., Ltd. among the top ten, the rest is still the logistics trade company in Guangzhou.

 

2.1.5 Trad Forms

 

The proportion of general trade continued to expand, exceeding 50%. The export of general trade was 1.717 billions dollars, down 12.39% year-on-year, accounting for 51.68%. The export of other trade forms was 1.46 billion dollars, up 179.05% year-on-year, accounting for 43.92%. (Table 7 for details)

 

 

2.2 Import Situation

 

    From January to November, the import of silk goods was 171 million dollars, down 4.84% year-on-year, accounting for 0.77% of the total imports of textile and apparel. In the same period, the import of textile and apparel increased by 5.98% year-on-year.

 

2.2.1 Imported Commodity Structure

 

Three categories of import trends remain unchanged: imports of silk and silk manufactured goods decline continued to narrow, the decline of silks and satins import expanded. Import of silk amounted to 11.277 million dollars, down 6.44% year-on-year, accounting for 6.58%. The number of imports was 3,217.5 tons, down 4.51% year-on-year. The import price was 3.5 dollars per kilogram, down 2.02% year-on-year. Import of real silks and satins amounted to 32.418 million dollars, down 18.42% year-on-year, accounting for 18.92%, unit price of imports was 9.15 dollars per meter, up 12.87% year-on-year. Import of silk commodity amounted to 128 million dollars, down 0.47% year-on-year, accounting for 74.49%, unit price of imported products was 117.87 dollars each, up 3.07% year-on-year. 2.2.2 Import Sources

 

Since the increase in EU imports growth, other major import sources are still declining. Real silk commodity imported top five sources as follows: EU ($112 million, up 6.42% year-on-year, accounting for 65.43%), China ($28.72 million, down 26.79% year-on-year, accounting for 16.77%), South Korea ($7.023 million, down 13.93% year-on-year, accounting for 4.1%), India ($5.974 million, down 2.36% year-on-year, accounting for 3.49%), Japan ($4.36 million, down 23.6% year-on-year, accounting for 2.55%). 2.2.3 Provincial and Municipalities Import

 

Main import provinces and municipalities ranking unchanged, Shanghai, Beijing import increased. As follows: Shanghai ($106 million, up 1.23% year-on-year, accounting for 61.93%), Guangdong ($25.45 million, down 22.54% year-on-year, accounting for 14.86%), Beijing ($13.496 million, up 9.63% year-on-year, accounting for 7.88%), Zhejiang ($13.445 million, down 2.24% year-on-year, accounting for 7.85%), Jiangsu ($2.689 million, down 27.25% year-on-year, accounting for 1.57%). The top 5 provinces and municipalities together accounted for 94.09% of China's total imports (Table 10 for details)
