1. Trade situation of silk products in Jul.

According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, trade amount of silk was $50.5321M, increased 22.23% and 12.47% compared with previous month and year respectively. Among them, the import amount was $48.3792M, increased 24.46% and 13.33% compared with previous month and year respectively. The export amount was $2.1529M, decreased 12.84% and 3.94% compared with previous month and year respectively. Specific products composition is as follows:

Import: Amount of silk yarn was $9.1K, a decrease of 5.54% and 65.96% compared with previous month and year respectively. The volume of silk yarn was 0.15 tons, an increase of 20% compared with previous month and a decrease of 48.45% compared with previous year.  Amount of silk fabrics was $2.3896M, an increase of 8.02% and 19.26% compared with previous month and year respectively. Amount of silk manufactured products was $45.9806M, an increase of 25.46% and 13.09% compared with previous month and year respectively.

Export: There were no export changes about silk yarn. Amount of silk fabrics was $121.6K, an increase of 20.65% compared with previous month, and a decrease of 64.08% compared with previous year. Amount of silk manufactured products was $2.0313M, an decrease of 14.27% compared with previous month, and an increase of 6.76% compared with previous year.

2. Trade situation of silk products in Jan.-Jul.

From Jan. to Jul. the trade amount of Australian silk products was $295M, a slight increase of 7.35% compared with previous year. Among them, the import amount was $277M, increased 7.86% compared with previous year. Export amount was $17.9486M, Flat year-on-year. Details are as follows:

Among the import silk products, import amount of silk yarn was $43.9K, decreased 40.29% compared with previous year, import volume of silk yarn was 1.28 tons, decreased 6.09% compared with previous year. Import amount of silk fabrics was $13.3549M, dropped 1.01% compared with previous year. Import amount of silk manufactured products was $263M, increased 8.37% compared with previous year.

The major import sources were China ($188M, up 14.96% year-on-year, accounting for 68.08%), India ($15.2282M, down 10.9% year-on-year, accounting for 5.5%), Italy ($12.3347M, up 0.92% year-on-year, accounting for 4.46%), Vietnam ($6.8745M, up 14.35% year-on-year, accounting for 2.48%), Bangladesh ($5.954M, down 29.92% year-on-year, accounting for 2.15%). All these five import sources total account for 82.67%.

Among the export silk products, the export amount of silk yarn was $15.5K, a marked increase of 602.17% compared with previous year, the export volume of silk yarn was 50 tons, suddenly increased 217291.3% compared with previous year. The export amount of silk fabrics was $934.2K, declined 39.74% compared with previous year. The export amount of silk manufactured products was $16.9989M, increased 3.67% compared with previous year.

The major export silk markets were New Zealand ($4.8174M, down 5.37% year-on-year, accounting for 26.84%), the United States ($3.41M, down 16.63% year-on-year, accounting for 19%), the United Kingdom ($1.875M, down 11.55% year-on-year, accounting for 10.45%), United Arab Emirates ($1.2574M, up 219.49% year-on-year, accounting for 7.01%), and Hong Kong ($1.0165K, down 23.29% year-on-year, accounting for 5.66%). All these five export markets total account for 68.96%.
