Report of International Silk Union (Stage 3 of 201
1. Daily work of ISU secretariat.
In this period, ISU secretariat handled a total of 151 emails, including 111 English and 40 Chinese, mainly to publish notices on the ISU upcoming events, exchange views with ISU members from various countries, assist China National Silk Museum to invite Vietnamese and Cambodian members to Hangzhou to participate in related activities, discuss visit schedule and arrangement with the Thai Silk Association, communicate with Brazilian members to revise and improve the international research report and teaser video, assist Zhejiang Television Station to contact member units from Italy, France, Cambodia, Indonesia and other countries for documentary filming, complete the procedure of new members’ accession, etc.
In the last three months, ISU official communication platform---Worldsilk Website totally published 141 articles, including 125 Chinese and 16 English. The visitors to the website are 3535, in which Chinese version attracts 2313 and English version 1222. We-chat public platform published 130 articles, including 14 original reports. The whole reading amount is 103584, the highest amount of single reading is 2954, subscribers increase 720 to total 5041.
On May 8, 2018, ISU secretariat held a working meeting to report ISU work in Feb.-Apr., 2018 and discuss the related work progress, mainly include the implementation of the finished work of 2018 ISU Chairman Enlarged Meeting, France Silk Festival Chinese Silk Enterprises Boutique Exhibition and construction of ISU committees, and the arrangement of the next steps, etc.
On July 18, 2018, ISU secretariat convened the preparatory meeting of France Silk Festival Chinese Silk Enterprises Boutique Exhibition, the representatives from Cathaya, High Fashion, Wensli, and Jin Fuchun attended the meeting. The meeting implemented the charge person, exhibition expense, exhibits, time process, tour schedule, etc.
2. Visiting domestic ISU member units.
In order to learn more about ISU member units, and strengthen the contact between ISU secretariat and member units, on May 3, 2018, ISU secretariat went on the third trip, visiting ISU member unit---Jiaxing Idea Silk Co., Ltd..
On May 14-19, 2018, ISU secretariat went to Guangxi and Sichuan to visit member units of Guangxi Huahong Silk Share Co., Ltd., China Silk Capital Nanchong Silk Culture Institute, Sichuan Nanchong Liuhe Group Co., Ltd., Sichuan Sachem Textile Co., Ltd., Sichuan Ygor Textile Co., Ltd., Nanchong Yinhai Silk Co., Ltd., and Nanchong Shang Hao Mulberry Tea Co., Ltd..

First half year, ISU secretariat visited 14 member units in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangxi and Sichuan. ISU secretariat introduced to the member units the work carried out since ISU founded, expressed the appreciation to the member units for their support and assistance and introduced the 2018 ISU work plan. Through the visit, the secretariat can learn about the condition of each member unit, and seek their advice on the ISU secretariat work, further more to strengthen the service awareness and provide better facilities and supports for member units. During the visit, a total of 4 original reports and 3 enterprise interviews were published.
3. Survey project of “Millennial Perception of Silk”.
At present, the “Millennial Perception of Silk” international research project has completed the research report and teaser video, including Chinese, English, Italian and French, which is convenience for promotion by new media.
4. ISU new members’ accession.
According to relevant provisions of ISU constitution, after the union secretariat preliminary review on the application, discussion on the union office meeting, and approval of the union executive director units, ISU secretariat agreed the new 9 units to become the seventh batch of ISU members. The list is as follows:

Up to now, 110 companies and organizations from 17 countries and regions such as China, Italy, France, Switzerland, Japan, Brazil etc., have joined ISU.
5. ISU boosted China National Silk Museum with “A World of Looms” & “Khmer Evening”.
Opening on May 30, A World of Looms was organized by the China National Silk Museum with the support of many scholars and research institutions. It was the first exhibition in China to present the rich cultural heritage of looms and weaving technologies around the world. The event displayed the various hand looms from Central Asia, West Asia, Southeast Peninsula, Europe, Africa and other places, demonstrating the diverse development and harmony of cultures around the world. At this event, ISU secretariat assisted China National Silk Museum with the collections of Vietnamese and Cambodian looms.

On July 14, 2018, China National Silk Museum held the activity of “Khmer Evening”. ISU secretariat assisted to invite Mr. PVA Eang Khoing, silk production director of ISU member unit---Artisan Angkor Co., Ltd. and local weaver to the “Khmer Evening”, having a speech and manufacturing show.
At the same time, ISU secretariat was invited to share the lecture of “Cambodian silk industry from the perspective of International Silk Union”, introducing the status quo and development of the Cambodian silk industry on the perspective of ISU investigation.
After the event, contacted by ISU secretariat, accompanied by the Silk Division of ISU chairman unit---Cathaya Group, PVA Eang Khoing, silk production director of Artisan Angkor Co., Ltd. visited ISU domestic member unit---Zhejiang Misai Silk Co., Ltd. to have a deepen communication on yellow silk export, achieving initial cooperation intention.
6. Assisting Zhejiang Television Station for documentary filming about silk history and culture.
Zhejiang Television Station plan to shoot a documentary film about silk history and culture for commemorating the 40th anniversary of Reform and Opening up. ISU secretariat was invited to assist in contacting the sericulture and silk enterprises and organizations from various countries to provide filming support.
In May 2018, ISU secretariat contacted the representatives of the local silk enterprises through the Italian Silk Office and INTERSOIE France to assist the Zhejiang Television Station International Channel in filming the silk-related content.

On June 13, 2018, ISU secretariat held a communication meeting with the filming team of Zhejiang Television Station International Channel to negotiate the shooting contact event.
In July 2018, ISU secretariat assisted in contacting Artisan Angkor Co., Ltd. (Cambodia) and PT. Emas Hijau Siliwangi (Indonesia) to shoot sericulture and silk.

The documentary film is expected to broadcast on the Zhejiang Television Station International Channel in December 2018.
7. Work progress of ISU Professional Committee.
On May 9, 2018, Mr. Li Jilin, chairman of ISU, and Mr. Fei Jianming, secretary general of ISU, held talks with Mr. Zhao Feng, vice chairman of ISU, director of ISU History Culture Professional Committee, and curator of China National Silk Museum, on the work plan of Historical Cultural Professional Committee and the upcoming events of ISU.
On July 5, 2018, ISU secretariat and Journal of Silk held a meeting to discuss the plans and arrangements for the first Meeting of ISU Education Research Professional Committee in October.
On July 17, 2018, ISU secretariat held a meeting with the Silk Institute of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University to discuss the possibility about the Silk Institute participating in the talents training of Cambodian sericulture and silk technology, and implement the preparatory work of ISU Education Research Professional Committee.
