Dear chairman Zhang, dear ISU members, ladies and gentlemen,

Good afternoon,

I am very pleased to be invited by ISU to participate in the 2021 ISU Chairman Meeting & International Think Tanks Forum on Silk Sustainable Development. First of all, on behalf of the China Silk Association, I would like to extend my warm congratulations to the convening of this conference, and extend my high respect and heartfelt thanks to friends from all countries who have been committed to promoting the development of the world silk industry for a long time.

Everyone knows that silk is the product of the continuous progress of human civilization and the common wealth of people of all countries. For thousands of years, difficult but across to five continents, silk as the messenger of civilization, spread to different countries, regions and ethnic groups, promoting the people of all countries from poverty to prosperity, and making great contributions to the development of world economy and civilization. At present, the world economic situation is complicated, and the sudden new crown epidemic has worsened the situation, which has brought a great impact to the global silk industry. The international silk consumer market continues to be sluggish, the progress of silk technology has been slow, and silk production has gradually shrunk, which has seriously hindered the sustainable development of the world silk industry. Faced with these new challenges, it is undoubtedly required for silk colleagues and people of insight from all countries to help each other and overcome difficulties, give full play to the advantages of various countries, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, learn from each other's strengths, and promote each other, so as to jointly promote the continuous new development of world silk, and play a greater role in the progress of human civilization.

This year is the first year for China to implement the "14th Five-Year Plan". In this five years, Chinese silk will focus on deepening supply-side structural reforms, adhere to the drive of scientific and technological innovation, accelerate the application of modern technology to transform traditional industries, and strive to promote the cocoon and silk industry towards high-quality development. During the 14th Five-Year Plan, Chinese silk industry will promote the development of large-scale mulberry cultivation, automation of sericulture, intelligent silk reeling, digitalization of silk weaving, green printing and dyeing, modernization of clothing and home textiles, comprehensive utilization of high-end and diversified sales markets, will focus on the intelligence, digitization, automation and factory sericulture of whole-age artificial feed, as well as the application of a number of new technologies such as high-temperature water refining, waterless printing, AI clothing customization, silk protein preservation, and bone nails, and will create a batch of high-quality cocoon silk production bases and industries Cluster, build a number of national science and technology innovation platforms and enterprise technology centers, cultivate a number of domestically-known and internationally influential silk brands, promoting China to achieve the goal of "silk power", making a contribution to promote the sustainable development of the world's silk industry.

All participates, in today's world, the economies of various countries are becoming more and more integrated, and the pattern of interdependence has become clearer. Chinese silk economic and trade exchanges with other countries have become closer, and common development is the general trend. We hope that through this forum, we will continue to deepen all-round exchanges and cooperation with the silk industry at home and abroad, adhering to the principle of "resource sharing, complementary advantages, openness and inclusiveness, win-win cooperation", and jointly promote the continuous development of newer and greater world silks.
